Ipad has No Effect On Mac Sales - News Is Not So Good For the iPod

Tags: ipad ipod macbook

It was always a worry for Apple that the iPad would hit there Mac Book sales.

Looking at the latest figures the new iPad hasn't effected Mac Book sales like some analysts expected what it may have done though, has increase the decline in sales of the iPod touch.

Market reserch company NPD has published new data showing that Mac retail sales in the U.S. are up 37% year-over-year for the quarter through to May. It was expected by some online analysts that the new iPad at its cheaper price would eat into Apple's entry level MacBook sales.

The report didn't have good news for Apples iPod business, the data suggests 9 million shipments for the June quarter, which roughly in line with the Wall Street's expectations. This is well down on last years figure of 10.2 million units.
